The R-C Morning Report

I can see lights across the Valley this morning, so the fog hasn't come up yet. It's 14 degrees out in Minden, and 21 degrees up in Genoa Canyon. It's 18 degrees in Fish Springs. The fog has rolled just before sunrise, but it's out of the forecast for this Christmas Eve. Expect sunny skies and a high of 37 today. The forecast for tonight is for the fog to return through Christmas night. There's the chance for snow or rain on Saturday night through Sunday.

The Mono County Sheriff's Department issued a warning about gift cards on Wednesday. Apparently people are obtaining security codes for the cards and then putting them back on the shelf. When someone buys the card, the thief is able to track when the card is activated from the code and then can make purchases before the legitimate patron can.

It's Christmas Eve, and The Record-Courier will be closing at 2 p.m. today. Depending on how our day goes, we ink-stained wretches may even get to go home around that time. We, and most of the rest of the Carson Valley will be closed on Friday. Thanks for reading and have a Merry Christmas.
