The Carson Valley wreck was one of 10 Nevada Highway Patrol troopers responded to this morning in Northern Nevada. It was one of only two injury accidents in the region.
According to Trooper Chuck Allen, seven of the accidents occurred on the westbound Interstate 80 east of Sparks. None resulted in injuries. Another property damage accident was reported around 8:25 a.m. near the Carson-Douglas County line on Highway 50. The other injury crash took place in Washoe Valley around 8:30 a.m. on Highway 395 near the Bellevue overpass, and also involving two vehicles.
"With another wave of moisture predicted overnight, motorists should prepare for safe travel by allowing additional time and driving safely and reducing their vehicle's speed for the commute tomorrow morning," Allen said. "With temperatures below the freezing mark, any moisture on the roadway surfaces should be considered icy and not wet, especially on bridges and below underpasses."
Allen asked that when installing and removing tire chains/cables, motorists use one of the many designated areas adjacent to the highway or do so as far away from a travel lane as possible.
