The congregation of Valley Christian Fellowship got approval for a 37-percent smaller church by the same 3-2 margin on Thursday night they won by back in December, after what was estimated to be a 45-minute hearing turned into a four-hour one. Through the rest of the evening, commissioners and gallery members joked evening that their presentations would only take 45 minutes.

More than 4,000 Douglas County utility customers are looking at higher sewer or water rates next summer. Commissioners indicated they would accept a plan to consolidate the county's water systems' accounting, resulting in more even increases across the entire customer base, rather than hitting some water systems which much higher rate increases than others.

It didn't rain a lick on Thursday and while the chance of rain or snow is 40 percent today, it might be better not to expect too much in the way of precipitation. It's supposed to rain before 10 p.m. and then snow, but it's not going to be much.
