Planning commissioners are meeting 1 p.m. today to hear an appeal of an approval of a minor design review for a small group home located at 252 Applecreek Lane in Foothill. Also on the agenda is a request for a 3-foot height variance to rebuild a barn along Highway 88 and a variance to improvement standards to build a private road to serve four parcels at 2861 East Valley Road. Planning Commissioners meet in the Douglas County Administrative Building, 1616 Eighth St.

Douglas School Board trustees are meeting 3:30 p.m. today at Douglas High School in Minden. The agenda today is light in preparation for Wednesday's special budget meeting, but there are some items of interest including a report that the school district's vans are out of compliance with state regulations, the revision of the district's weapons, fighting, intimidation and prescription drugs policy, and the adoption of new middle school math books.

We'll get a glimpse of the sun today as a new storm rolls in on Wednesday. Expect a high of 43 degrees today and then it will cloud up tonight with a chance of rain and then snow.
