Valley violinist performs in Reno concert Saturday

GARDNERVILLE, Nev.

Johnson Lane violinist Brian Jaggard took second place in the senior division of the concerto auditions of the Reno Philharmonic Youth Symphony Orchestra and has been invited to perform at "An Evening in Vienna," Feb. 14 at the Siena Hotel and Casino in Reno. The event is sponsored by the Reno Philharmonic Guild and the Nevada Opera Guild and is open to the public. Information, (775) 323-2030.

Home school senior Jaggard is a graduate of the Carson Valley Violin School, a concertmaster of the Carson Valley Sinfonia and part of the first violin section of the Reno Youth Orchestra. He was the first-place winner of the Rotary Club talent show at South Lake Tahoe in 2008.

Jaggard is a student of Ruth Lenz, concertmaster of the Reno Philharmonic.
