Happy Presidents Day. Federal, state and county offices are closed, as are financial institutions and the U.S. Post Office. Kids are out of school today, so watch out for them as you're going about your business.
After reporting for a week that's it's going to snow at some point, the Weather Service has issued a special weather statement that it's going to snow. There's a big old low pressure system rolling into California this afternoon, along with a cold front. Forecasters say that we'll have moderate to heavy snow somewhere along the Sierra front, but they're not quite sure where. If you're caught in it, expect 1-3 inches to fall in a hurry this afternoon.
The Weather Service is also warning commuters of dense fog along the Highway 395 corridor. It looks like we've got a piece of it in the Valley, since I can't see the highway. Visibility will be less than a quarter mile. Expect the fog to lift by about 8 a.m.
