It was a season of records and firsts for the Sierra Lutheran High School boys' basketball team.

The team posted a school record 11 wins, finished at the .500 mark for the first time and last week, Jonah Young poured in a school-record 29 points to go with 17 rebounds and five assists in a 95-30 win over Gabbs.

Bob DePaoli had 16 points and 10 rebounds in the win, Nick DePaoli scored 15 points to go with seven assists, David Zaninovich scored 14 points, Levi Grabow added 10 points and four assists, Andrew Deterding had eight points and Ben Martin finished with three points.

Sierra Lutheran fell to Virginia City 68-58 the following night, although Nick DePaoli scored 16 points, Deterding had 11 and Young had 10 points and five rebounds in the game.

Grabow added five rebounds and six assists in the loss.

"The kids were disappointed in the way they played," Sierra Lutheran coach Alan Reed said. "We made some mistakes in the first half that we just couldn't overcome and we finished one game out of the playoffs.

"There were a lot of positive things this season and we look forward to building on that next year."

The Falcons finished with an 11-11 record overall and took fifth place in the 1A West league.
