The Minden/Douglas Elks annual Crab Feed is today at the CVIC Hall in Minden. Social hour starts 5:30 p.m. Dinner at 6:30 p.m. On the menu is fresh Dungeness crab, garlic bread and cole slaw. Naked City continues in the Carson Valley Inn's Cabaret Lounge through Sunday, Mack & Tom perform Feb. 23-March 2 and American Made plays March 3-8.
Live entertainment presented with no cover and no minimum with five 45-minute shows starting on the hour at 6 p.m. Sunday through Thursday nights and 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights.
Naked City is Jo and Tony Hoover whose repertoire includes popular music from the '50s to current hits. The Hoovers are vocalists who play bass, guitar, keyboards and percussion.
Mack & Tom play classic rock 'n' roll from the '50s through the '80s plus contemporary tunes. The group is Bruce McCormack on keyboards and vocals and Tom Dickson on guitar and vocals. The two artists have played together for more than 10 years, many of them as part of the backup band for Louie Fontaine and The Rockets.
American Made plays American music from the 1940s to the present, including rock, oldies, classic rock, R&B, country and big-band swing. The group features Sharon Wyner on vocals and keyboards, Nat Wyner on vocals, electric violin, guitar and mandolin; Jeff Sadie on lead guitar and vocals and Jerry Stollman on drums and vocals.

Dinner dance
for Austin's House
Austin's House presents the Mardi Gras Magic dinner and dance, 6 p.m. tonight, in the Shannon Ballroom at the Carson Valley Inn. The fundraiser recreates the party atmosphere of New Orleans with music, dancing, prizes and food.
Cocktail hour begins 6 p.m. The event features dance music by Fabrizio, raffle drawings and silent auction. A grand prize drawing is for a vacation at Harrah's New Orleans.
The Cajun buffet dinner features peel and eat shrimp, chicken gumbo, blackened fish, Louisiana hot links steamed in beer, shrimp etouffee and smoked rib-eye roast with all the trimmings.

"Seussical Jr." is directed by Carol Scott and features characters from the Dr. Seuss books, "The Cat in the Hat," "Horton Hears a Who," "Green Eggs and Ham" and "How the Grinch Stole Christmas."

Square dancers needed for movie
Square dancers of all abilities are invited to participate in the filming of a documentary on square dancing at the CVIC Hall in Minden on Feb. 28.
The B Sharps documentary film company will shoot a film based on the 61-year career of square dance caller Larry Ward, who recently moved to Carson Valley to teach ballroom and square dancing.
The first session is 2-5 p.m. and will feature exhibitions in square, round and ballroom dancing. There is no charge.
The second session at 7-10 p.m. features rounds between alternating mainstream and plus-square dancing. Cost for the second session is $7.

Garfin Gathering at BAC Saturday
Mile High Jazz Band Association and Brewery Arts Center present Speedy Garfin & the Garfin Gathering, 7:30 p.m. on Saturday at the BAC Performance Hall, 511 West King St. in Carson City.

Carson City 'Idol'
Calling singers, dancers, musicians, gymnasts, and other solo variety acts, age 6-17, for Wild Horse Children's Theater's second annual Capital City Idol Talent Competition at the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada on March 14.
The time of performance must be less than three and a half minutes and any music must be provided on CD. Singers must not have vocal tracks or background vocals on the CD. No duets or groups.
There will be divisions of youth (ages 6-9), junior (ages 10-12) and senior (ages 13-17). Idol contestant closed preliminaries start at 3:30 p.m. Feb. 28. Competition finalists perform and compete for prizes at 6:30 p.m. March 14.
First- and second-place winners in each division selected. Judges select winners based on talent, stage presence, personality and entertainment value.
