The family of a U.S. Army couple slain a year ago are hoping well-wishers will light two candles in the soldiers' honor on Monday.

March 2 marks the anniversary of Staff Sgt. Timothy Miller and Sgt. Randi Miller's deaths in Parkland, Wash., and the kidnapping of their daughter, Kassidy, who was found unharmed.

Another soldier has been in custody since the day of the slayings, but legal proceedings have been slow, according to Timothy's mother, Gardnerville resident Tami Gray.

A hearing before Christmas was delayed, and Gray said the family hasn't heard when the next hearing will be.

Timothy Miller graduated from Douglas High School in 1998.

The woman accused in the deaths, 23-year-old Spec. Ivette Davila, faces murder and kidnapping charges in a military court. Davila is awaiting a hearing to determine the exact charges before a court martial is convened.

Gray said the Army wants the family and Kassidy to attend the hearing involving Davila. The Grays live in the Gardnerville Ranchos, and have custody of the 18-month-old girl.

In honor of the Millers, a nationwide memorial will be held at all Olive Garden restaurants on Sunday, Gray said.

"The Millers celebrated several events with their family and friends at the Tacoma Olive Garden," she said. "So, we are holding the first-year memorial at Olive Garden restaurants nationwide."

Gray said Tim Miller's family and friends will gather at the Reno Olive Garden.

"Olive Garden will make a donation to the Children of Fallen Soldiers Relief Fund in the Millers memory," she said.

Gray is asking members of the public to join in a celebration of life for the couple.

"We want little Kassidy to know how much her parents are missed and how the country can come together for these heroes and help other children of fallen soldiers," Gray said.

"Light two candles the evening of March 2 to honor their memory."
