A 52-year-old former casino slot technician was sentenced to probation Tuesday and ordered to repay $43,000 he drained from slot machines at Harrah's casino last June.

Attorney Tod Young said his client, Robert Lopez, had repaid nearly half.

"I know I've done wrong," Lopez said. "I took full responsibility and I make no excuses, I will take my punishment."

District Judge Dave Gamble suspended a four-year term in Nevada State Prison and placed Lopez on five years probation.

He ordered him to serve 104 days in Douglas County Jail on his days off, or find a second job on those days and pay 50-75 percent of his salary for the extra work toward restitution.

He ordered Lopez to stay out of casinos and not to gamble, or use controlled substances or alcohol during probation.

Lopez must pay $300 a month toward restitution.

He pleaded guilty to grand larceny.
