Historic Douglas women wanted

Nominations are accepted for women who make or have made contributions to the quality of life in Douglas County. Submit nominees for the "Douglas County Women: Past, Present and Future" project to the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center 1477 Highway 395, Gardnerville. Deadline is March 6. Space available at equine clinic and tack sale

Vendors and donations are needed at the ninth annual Douglas County Sheriff's Mounted Posse ninth annual spring equine clinic and tack, horse and trailer sale, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. March 14, at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. Space available at $20 in advance, $30 day of sale. Tack and related equine items accepted as tax-deductible donations. Call 267-1607 for information and pick-up.


Lenten services

St. Gall Catholic Church celebrates Mass at 8 a.m. and 12:10 p.m. daily during Lent. Stations of the cross every Wednesday at 6 p.m. followed with soup supper. Bring a dish to share. The church is at 1343 Centerville Lane, Gardnerville. Information, 782-2852.


Savor the Flavor

Soroptimist International of Carson Valley's 14th annual Savor the Flavor event is 6-9 p.m. Saturday, at Genoa Lakes Golf Resort. The fundraiser features food and beverage tasting, silent auction and raffle. Raffle tickets are $5 each or five tickets for $20 to win 100 $3 pulls on the Megabucks slot machine, two-night stay at the Carson Valley Inn and dinner for two at Fiona's Bar and Grill. Rotary Beast Feast Saturday

The Minden Rotary Club's Beast Feast is 6 p.m. Saturday at the Carson Valley Inn. The menu includes Copper River salmon, braised bison ribs and eye of venison rack prepared by the premiere chefs at the Carson Valley Inn. Wines provided by Cleavage Creek and Drytown Cellars.

Silent auction items include a McMillan custom rifle, US Optics custom rifle scope, spa and beauty treatments, vacation and golf experiences, a ridealong with a Lake Tahoe sheriff and a CareFlight helicopter tour.

Story time at the library

The Douglas County Public Library, 1625 Library Lane in Minden, hosts toddler story time, 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays through April 1.

Join Miss Maria in the castle for stories and music to develop a love of reading for children age 18 months to 3 years during the five-week library program. Information, douglas.lib.nv.us or 782-9841.
