The Douglas High boys' basketball team saw a nine-point lead slip away in the fourth quarter as they fell 60-56 at Elko Saturday evening.
Elko used a 17-0 run, keyed primarily by six Douglas turnovers, to escape with the win.
"Our kids folded a little under the pressure and Elko converted their opportunities," Douglas coach Corey Thacker told the Elko Daily Free Press.
Douglas dropped to 3-11 overall on the year, but got to see senior standout James McLaughlin on the floor for his first playing time of the season.
McLaughlin broke his leg during football season and had been practicing with the team over the past several weeks. He saw about two minutes of time in the loss, during which he scored two points.
Junior Cale Pete had 12 points and sophmore Austin Neddenriep scored 11 points for the Tigers in the loss. Nick Hales had nine points, Parker Robertson added seven points, Tyler Hoelzen had five, Tim Rudnick had four and Chris Downs, Luis Pina-
Duarte and Garrett Getty each had two.
Douglas took on Damonte Ranch Tuesday night in its first home game since Dec. 13 and will travel to Wooster Friday evening.
