During the last quarter of 2008, Mono County authorities arrested more than 25 people and seized a half pound of cocaine and three-quarters of a pound of methamphetamine.

According to the Mono County Sheriff's Department, members of the Mono Narcotic Enforcement Team conducted an intensive undercover narcotics operation in the Mammoth Lakes area.

The operation consisted of dozens of controlled buys of narcotics by agents, sting operations, and covert surveillance. In addition to narcotics, agents also purchased counterfeit resident alien cards, driver's licenses, Social Security cards, and pirated music.

The operation resulted in more than 10 search warrants being served, with more than 25 arrests. Vehicles, currency, and firearms were also seized during the operation.

The operation also yielded syringes, and a large variety of prescription narcotics.

During the service of some of the search warrants, stolen property was also located, which was turned over to the Mammoth Lakes Police Department for further investigation.

Although significant arrests were made, investigations are still on-going.
