at Buckaroos

n The Rustlers play, 8 p.m. to midnight today. The Rustlers cover hard-core country music by Montgomery Gentry, Alan Jackson, Brooks & Dunn and Dierks Bently. The Carson City-based band is Ev Musselman on guitar and lead vocals, Larry Goldman on bass guitar and vocals, Brian Williams on lead guitar and vocals, Jim Park on pedal steel guitar and Russ Hohenberger on drums and vocals.

n Ted Nagel hosts karaoke, 9 p.m. to 1 a.m., every Saturday.

n Dale Jantzen hosts karaoke, 8-11 p.m. every Wednesday.

n Ladies night begins 6 p.m. every Thursday. Ladies drinks half off.

Minden

Carson Valley Inn entertainment

Major Link plays through Sunday and various duos entertain on Monday nights. Cabaret Lounge entertainment is presented with no cover and no minimum in 45-minute shows.

San Francisco Bay area band Major Link is one of the most requested groups at the Carson Valley Inn. Terry Saunders on guitar and keyboardist/vocalist Mary Owens use technically advanced musical equipment to cover a range of pop, R&B and good old rock 'n' roll. Major Link entertains with five 45-minute shows starting on the hour at 6 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

The Red Hot Smokin' Aces take the Cabaret Lounge stage Tuesday and play until Jan. 17. The Red Hot Smokin' Aces play country and oldies to pop chart hits " from Gretchen Wilson to Stevie Wonder and Merle Haggard to Roy Orbison. The heart of band is father/daughter Jeffrey and Ileia who collectively have toured the northwest for more than 40 years.

NFL and college football are featured on giant plasma screens and with draft beer and snack specials in the Cabaret Lounge. Drawings for prizes during the Jan. 18 conference championship games and the Superbowl on Feb. 1.

Music at Indigo

The Mark Castro and Satia acoustic duo play, 7:30-11:30 p.m. Saturday at Indigo. The Mark Castro acoustic show features Mark Castro on guitar and Satia on vocals and bass. The duo play classic rock songs from Chuck Berry, The Ventures, Santana, Jeff Beck, Jimi Hendrix, Led Zepplin and The Beatles.

Open mic night with Dean Brownell, 8:30 p.m. Thursdays.

Concert series continues

The Carson Valley Arts Council 2008-09 concert series continues with Great Basin Brass, 7 p.m. Jan. 16 at the CVIC Hall, 1602 Esmeralda in Minden. A wine, beer and cheese reception sponsored by Tahoe Ridge Winery is at 6 p.m. Desserts by Bravo Cafe & Bakery served at 8:30 p.m. Admission is a $15 donation at the door. Information, 782-8207.

The 2008-09 concert series continues with flamenco guitarist Kaweh on Feb. 6, blues guitarist Chris Cain on March 13 and Mumbo Gumbo on May 8.
