A pickup hitting a power pole at Chowbuck Drive and East Valley Road caused an electrical outage that affected 2,093 NV Energy customers early this morning.

According to power company spokesman Karl Walquist when a work crew arrived at the scene, the pole had been knocked over.

"Most of the customers were back in service by 4 a.m. after we did some switching," he said. "A smaller number of customers, mostly on Chowbuck, remained out of service until crews were able to complete replacing the pole around 9 a.m."

Walquist said the crew reported that there was no one around when they arrived.

More information about the traffic accident is being sought.
