Mono County will be holding a public meeting to discuss current and future needs of their facilities in our area, 7 p.m. tonight, at the Walker Community Center. This includes the question of enlargement of the existing community center building, or erecting a new building. They will have representatives of their consulting firm present to hear our concerns and to describe the process of their needs assessment to us. Be sure to attend, as this will result in long-term solutions to our issues.
The Coleville Library is humming with all of the activities they have going on. There are story hours every week, book clubs, free Internet service, live homework help, and much more. Call (530) 495-2788 for all the information.
Our weather has been so nice since Christmas that it's hard to think about really severe weather coming at us. The Mono County Sheriff would like us all to be sure that we are prepared in the event really bad weather comes. That includes having the necessary clothing, plus an extra supply of water and food to help you through any tough situation. If you are stranded in your vehicle by the weather, they say that you should stay in the vehicle. Be sure your exhaust pipe is not covered by snow, so that there is no carbon monoxide threat. Please be careful.
The Mono County Board of Supervisors have two evening meetings planned at the Walker Community Center this year on April 21 and Sept. 15. This will give you an opportunity to ask any questions you may have for the supervisors, as well as hearing what they have approved and/or planned that will affect our area.
There's not a lot happening around our Valley at this time of year, but we can all enjoy the nice weather we're having, stay warm, and keep smiling!
