Melodrama at museum
The Douglas County Historical Society presents the "Hotel Minden" melodrama as an annual fundraiser at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center in Gardnerville. Tickets still available for the 1 p.m. Feb. 8 show features a hot dog lunch with all the trimmings and between-show entertainment for $15. 'Chicken Every Sunday'
Student-Senior Day is Feb. 7 at the Carson Valley Museum & Cultural Center, 1477 Highway 395, Gardnerville. Screenings of the 1949 movie, "Chicken Every Sunday, at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Part of the movie was filmed in Carson Valley and stars Celeste Holm and Dan Dailey. Museum tours led by costumed docents, 10 a.m. noon and 2 p.m. Free admission for seniors and students with accompanying adult on the first Saturday of the month. Information, 782-2555.

Carson Valley Inn entertainment
The Trey Stone Duo continue in the Carson Valley Inn's Cabaret Lounge through Sunday, The Gardners entertain on Monday and Hindsight plays Tuesday through Feb. 1.
Live entertainment presented with no cover and no minimum with five 45-minute shows starting on the hour at 6 p.m. Sunday through Thursday nights and 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday nights.
Trey Stone on guitar and vocals and Rocky Sleight on keyboards and vocals perform a variety of pop, soul and jazz as the Trey Stone Duo. Stone toured with Tower of Power and has appeared on "Saturday Night Live," David Sanborn's "Night Music" and MTV's "Rock in Rio" with Prince, George Michael and Run DMC.
Sleight has lived in and performed around Northern Nevada for more than 25 years. He arranges the music for the Trey Stone Duo and has performed with the Coasters, Drifters and Dolly Parton, among others. The Trey Stone Duo play in the Cabaret Lounge through Sunday.
The Gardners are Bob and Nancy Gardner who perform music from the past 50 years with an emphasis on '60s and '70s dance music. The Gardners play in the lounge on Monday.
Hindsight plays rhythm and blues, classic rock 'n' roll and pop music. The band is led by Larry Waller on keyboards and sax, Adina Pearl on vocals, Terry Caldwell on guitar, Leonardo Fields on bass and Derrick Autry on drums. Hindsight plays Tuesday through Feb. 1.

Super Bowl XLIII at CVI
The Carson Valley Inn celebrates Super Bowl with food and drink specials and football prize drawings Feb. 1.
The Cafe Cabaret will be serving draft beer specials and football munchies including deli sandwich slices, hot dogs steamed in beer, barbecue brisket sandwiches, loaded chili dogs, chili bowls, nachos, pretzels with mustard and stadium popcorn buckets.
Prizes awarded during the game include Super Party XLIII shirts and official NFL Super Bowl merchandise. Super Party XLIII weekend also brings double points for INN Club members on Sunday and a $1,000 Super Bowl Grid for INN Club members playing in the casino.
Dinner dance for Austin's House
Austin's House presents the Mardi Gras Magic dinner and dance, 6 p.m. Feb. 20, in the Shannon Ballroom at the Carson Valley Inn. The fundraiser recreates the party atmosphere of New Orleans with music, dancing, prizes and food.
Cocktail hour begins 6 p.m. The event features dance music by Fabrizio, raffle drawings and silent auction. A grand prize drawing is for a vacation at Harrah's New Orleans.
The Cajun buffet dinner features peel and eat shrimp, chicken gumbo, blackened fish, Louisiana hot links steamed in beer, shrimp etouffee and smoked rib-eye roast with all the trimmings.
The ticket donation for Mardi Gras Magic to benefit Austin's House is $50. Tables of 10 are available. Only 200 tickets will be sold. Call 267-6711 to order tickets. Visa and MasterCard are accepted.

Bridal fair Feb. 22
A bridal fair to showcase local wedding vendors is 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 22 at the Genoa Lakes Golf Club, one mile north of downtown Genoa.
The open house is complimentary to those in the process of planning their weddings. Attendees will be able to taste chocolate, champagne, coffee and wine from the vendors of Destination Genoa.
Wedding vendors, professionals and location representatives to exhibit at the open house include Genoa area florists, wedding planners, photographers, food and beverage suppliers. The event features area bakeries, room accommodations and wedding/reception site providers.
