The R-C Morning Report

So far we've seen between a quarter and half an inch of rain falling over the last 24 hours, depending on where you are in the Valley. It's still raining lightly outside with some fog developing along the river. Chains or four-wheel drive are required over Carson Pass. Chains or snow tires over Mount Rose Highway.

The National Weather Service said another juicy storm is due in today with the chance of moisture remaining very high through the day and then falling off a bit on Saturday. We could be looking at another half inch of moisture until the cold portion of the storm sets in on Sunday. Then look for light snow in the Valleys, if the storm tracks.

Up on Ebbetts Pass, which is the East Fork's water bank account, 7.4 inches of new snow has fallen over the last 24 hours. The additional 2 inches in snow water equivalent brings the pass up to a foot, according to the telemetry. Ebbetts is at 8,765 feet and should get even more snow from this second blast of moisture.

Douglas County school officials could use a little relief from their money drought, but that forecast is pretty grim. They'll share their findings with the public 5 p.m. today at Douglas High School.
