Two Carson City men are set to enter pleas July 13 in District Court to charges of trafficking in narcotics.
Eloy Ramos-Montesdeoca, 25, and Fernando Salcedo-Navarro, 41, waived preliminary hearings on Wednesday before East Fork Justice Jim EnEarl.
Lawyer Kris Brown said Salcedo-Navarro would plead guilty to low-level trafficking charges. In exchange for his plea, the district attorney's office would dismiss additional charges.
She said charges Salcedo-Navarro was facing in Carson City also would be dismissed.
Attorney Derrick Lopez, representing Ramos-Montesdeoca, said his client also would plead in an agreement with the district attorney's office.
The defendants were arrested by Carson City sheriff's deputies on May 26 on suspicion of trafficking and sales of methamphetamine in Carson City.
At the time of their arrest, Ramos-Montesdeoca and Salcedo-Navarro were already being investigated by members of the Douglas County Sheriff's Office Street Enforcement Team on suspicion of trafficking and sales of methamphetamine in Douglas County.
From April 23 to May 6, street enforcement officers purchased a total of 20.1 grams of methamphetamine in three separate illicit drug transactions conducted by or brokered by Ramos-Montesdeoca and Salcedo-Navarro in Douglas County, according to reports.
Salcedo-Navarro originally was charged with trafficking in a controlled substance and conspiracy to violate the Uniform Controlled Substances Act.
Ramos-Montesdeoca was charged with sales of a controlled substance, two counts of trafficking in a controlled substance and conspiracy to violate the Uniform Controlled Substances Act.
Ramos-Montesdeoca has a "no-bail" hold placed on him by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
