The body of a missing boater was found this morning in Bridgeport Reservoir by search divers on the third day of a search after a boat was found anchored 60 yards off shore.
According to Sgt. Jeff Beard of the Mono County Sheriff's Department, the boater's name is not being released.
The man was found at 9:28 a.m. today by divers from the San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department.
According to Beard, searchers received a report of a partially submerged boat at about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday. Mono County deputies, Bridgeport firefighters and Mono County medics searched for the boat that night. During the search, a woman reported her husband was overdue from a fishing trip.
The boat was spotted about 60 yards off shore. A deputy swam out to it and found the boat unoccupied. Searchers continued to seek the missing person until midnight Wednesday.
On Thursday morning, searchers continued the effort, but didn't find any sign of the man. A dive team was requested through the California Office of Emergency Services on Thursday night.
Beard said an investigation into the incident is still under way.
