The Neddenriep Family Reunion USA 2009 was attended by more than 170 relatives for the western style barbecue at the Neddenriep Ranch, and more 75 for the Sunday brunch at the home of Marlena Hellwinkel. Fifty cousins attended Trinity Lutheran Church Sunday morning worship where special recognition was given to the reunion.
Plans for the reunion and contacting relatives were under the supervision of Angela Courtney, Linda Reid, Marie Johnson and Marlena Hellwinkel.
Neddenriep cousins came from places far and wide. Seven traveled from Germany, two from Maine, three from Nebraska, one from Missouri as were attendees from New Mexico, Idaho, state of Washington, California and Nevada. Everyone received a red bandanna embossed with the Neddenriep brand, the "Flying N."
The oldest cousin attending, age 93, was Louis Neddenriep of Gardnerville. A special guest of the Neddenriep reunion was Nevada Gov. Jim Gibbons, who read and presented a proclamation declaring June 20, 2009, "as a day in honor of the Neddenriep International Family Reunion."
