A memorial service is 5 p.m. Wednesday in the Dresslerville Gym for native Nevadan Shane Norman Koos, 28, who died July 1, 2009 in Tempe, Ariz.

Born April 4, 1981, to Dawna J. Koos, he was a lifelong resident of Carson Valley, where he attended Meneley Elementary School, Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School and Douglas High School where he played football for the Tigers.

He was taking business and fire management classes for the past three years, and had several jobs in different fields.

Mr. Koos enjoyed classical music, reading, skiing, snowboarding, swimming, traveling and being with his family.

He lived with his grandmother Justine Koos of Dresslerville.

Mr. Koos is preceded in death by his mother in November 1988.

He is survived by sisters Danielle and Raina Cloud of Oklahoma City; brother Curtis Cloud of Dresslerville; uncle Lester John Koos; aunts Kristine Arcos of Dresslerville and Charlene Nevers Higuera of Carson City; eight cousins he considered brothers and sisters. A member of the Lester McDonald family, he had three great aunts and uncles.
