9-10 All-Stars take third

Coming off a fresh 18-1 victory over Reno American West the Carson Valley 9-10 All-Star team took on undefeated Reno American Continental team on July 7. Tanner Souza pitched a complete game two-hit gem with three strikeouts and no walks to lead Carson Valley in an 11-1 mercy rule victory.

Kindel Isham reached base all three times including a double and scored twice with savvy base-running, Tomas Leitenbauer hit three singles, Spencer Trivitt reached base twice, Souza reached base all three times including a blast for a triple. Connor McKinnon had two solid singles. Cody Ball hit a solid single, Tre Jackson added another shot for a single to continue his hot hitting, Nolan Greth was hit by a pitch, and Hayden Brown added a single.

Leitenbauer displayed exceptional fielding at second base as he was responsible for five Reno Continental outs. Dion Mortimer caught a hard line drive at first base, Gage Barney made a great defensive stop at third for an out, and Lake Saladis made a nice catch in center field.

An undefeated Truckee team handed the Carson Valley squad their first loss of the tourney on July 8. Mortimer, McKinnon and Leitenbauer pitched a gritty game for the Carson Valley All Stars. Carson Valley had singles from Isham who also had a sacrifice, Souza, Brown, McKinnon, Mortimer, and Barney.

On July 9, Carson Valley faced off against Sparks Centennial in the elimination round and came away with a very well played 9-5 victory. Souza got the start and struck out five Sparks hitters and he also threw three out at first base. Isham continued his stingy defense, making two difficult plays in the game. McKinnon was exceptional in relief, striking out three batters and not giving up a run.

Carson Valley put up 10 hits for the game, highlighted by Trivitt's first ever home run shot over the left center field fence. Souza came through with three hits, including a double and Murray had two hard hit balls resulting in a triple and a double. Saladis hit a double and Mortimer, Barney, and Brown each added singles. Isham, Leitenbauer, and Jackson, continued to add to their on-base percentage reaching base five times.

Carson Valley lost to a very good Carson City team on Friday night in the semi-finals with Mortimer, Leitenabuer, Trivitt and Barney pitching.

Trivitt had two singles, Mortimer had a double, and Saladis added a single to lead the Carson Valley squad.

The Carson Valley All-Stars ended up as the third place finisher for the tourney out of 12 teams.
