The 2009-10 board of directors of the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce & Visitors Authority will be installed at their monthly general membership luncheon at the Genoa Lakes Golf Course today.
The oath will be given to the new board by Nancy McDermid, chair of the Douglas County Board of Commissioners.
The new board will be led by president Cheri Glockner of Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare, president-elect Steve Weissinger of Farmers Insurance, vice president Brian Fitzgerald of the Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department, treasurer Jerilyn Johnson of Nevada State Bank, visitors authority representative Tom Brooks of Carson Valley Golf Course, past president Sam Slack of Resorts West and The Ridge Tahoe and director emeritus Gerry Bing of Bing Materials.
Returning board members include Judi Bishop of the Northern Nevada Development Authority, Debra Lang of the Carson Valley Inn, Kathy Halbardier of Tahoe Ridge Winery, Tim Ghan of Farmers Insurance, Jeff Schnitzer of GE Energy and Marie Stokes of Genoa Lakes Golf Club & Resort.
New board members are Samantha Koblitz of Carson Valley Country Club Restaurant, Jessica Jensen of Guild Mortgage, Charlie Pankey of The Record-Courier and Dave Brady will represent the county commissioners.
In addition to the installation, luncheon attendees will hear from Jim McClenahan, director of management and executive development programs for the University of Nevada, Reno, whose topic, the failure of leadership, will look at some commonly held, but not necessarily true, beliefs about the best qualities of leaders and offer some alternative views on what makes great leaders.
The luncheon sponsor and business of the month is Carson Valley Medical Center.
