A memorial service is 11 a.m. Saturday at the Mormon Station State Historic Park in Genoa for 13-year Carson Valley resident Gregg Anthony Fliegel, 49, who died July 2, 2009, after a brief illness.
Mr. Fliegel was born Sept. 14, 1959. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Coral Sea. He was a carpenter and worked for many years doing projects around Minden and Gardnerville including the old Dangberg Wool Warehouse building on Highway 395, and the fitness center next to Douglas High School. He was also the lead foreman on the Nevada Museum of Arts building in Reno. He later became a Realtor in Carson Valley.
Mr. Fliegel enjoyed spending time with his four children and helping them any way he could.
He loved deep sea fishing, hiking and flyfishing the Sierra.
He was preceded in death by his wife Gina Ann Fliegel in June of 2006 and his older sister Carolyn.
Mr. Fliegel is survived by his children, Nicole, Kirk, Thomas and Jesse, their spouses and five grandchildren; parents Robert and Lillian Fliegel of Tucson, Ariz.; brothers Robert and Tim of Arizona; as well as many cousins.
An assistance fund for his children has been established at either the Minden or Gardnerville branches of Bank of America under the name of The Gregg Fliegel Family Assistance Fund.
