Lark's darker side

In response to "Lark Deserves Support," Carol Lark is more than willing to take all the credit when something goes well. It's incredibly naive to think that Mrs. Lark, alone, is personally responsible for passing the bond. That she is personally responsible for student achievement. That she is personally responsible for radon abatement. The truth is her administrators and their support staff deserve the majority of the credit for all the behind the scenes work that gets accomplished.

Mrs. Lark demonstrates poor leadership by basking in the glory of other people's hard work and not sharing the spotlight with the people who actually put forth the effort to prepare the finished product for public consumption.

Conversely, Mrs. Lark is quick to throw her administrators under the bus when things don't go her way. Lark requires the constant supervision by her administrators to save her from herself and public scrutiny. The damage control exists within the confines of the district office and she has her administrators to thank for providing her this protection. Instead of being grateful, Mrs. Lark prefers to fire her administrators or disparage them in public forums. It is easy to surmise that these same administrators are tired of the backstabbing, have simply had enough, and refuse to cover for her any longer.

Mrs. Lark would deserve support if she actually did anything to earn it. The public is only privy to her sweet, grandmotherly side. There is a much darker side of her that only the district office staff and site administrators get to see. If the public were actually exposed to it, there is no doubt you'd be singing a different tune.
