Pro basketball player Antoine Walker arrested at Tahoe

Pro basketball player Antoine Walker was arrested at Harrah's Casino in Stateline early Thursday morning on three felony counts of passing checks/obtaining credit with insufficient funds to cover.

Walker, who most recently played for the National Basketball Association's Memphis Grizzlies, was scheduled to compete in this weekend's American Century Championship celebrity golf tournament at the Edgewood Tahoe Golf Course.

A Las Vegas Justice Court issued a warrant Tuesday after Walker took out gambling markers at Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood, and Red Rock Resort worth $1 million over the past year.

Walker paid back $178,000 of the markers but now also owes $82,550 in fees to the district attorney's office for executing the criminal prosecution requested by the casinos.

According to the complaint, he obtained the markers by writing 10 checks totaling $1 million from an account with insufficient funds. Six checks worth $100,000 each were signed to Caesars Palace and four worth $100,000 each were signed to Planet Hollywood and Red Rock Resort. Under Nevada law, gambling debts are considered bad check cases.

Douglas County Sheriff's Office Deputies were conducting a foot patrol security check through Harrah's when they were approached by a Harrah's employee.

The employee told the deputies that he had seen a television report about the warrant and that he'd just seen Walker inside the cabaret bar at the casino.

The deputies checked the warrant information through their dispatch center, and the information was confirmed.

The warrant had been issued with a bail of $905,050.00 cash only.

Antoine Walker was subsequently arrested and booked for the warrant. Walker was cooperative with DCSO deputies throughout the process. He posted $135,000 cash-only bail (it had been lowered by Tahoe Township Justice Court Judge Richard Glasson earlier in the day) and is to appear in Las Vegas Justice Court, Department 10 on July 20 at 8 a.m.
