Gardnerville man named to governor's staff

Gov. Jim Gibbons announced Monday that Gardnerville resident Lynn Hettrick will join his staff as deputy chief. Hettrick and Stacy Woodbury, who was also selected as deputy chief, will begin their new duties in the governor's Office as soon as possible.

"The additions of Mr. Hettrick and Ms. Woodbury will have immediate positive impacts on my office and their conservative philosophies on government and taxation will help the citizens and businesses of Nevada," Gibbons said, "Both of these people have strong records of honorable public service and will help me accomplish many of my goals, including expansion of renewable energy in Nevada, guiding Nevada through these difficult economic times, and preparing Nevada for the economic recovery that will come."

Hettrick is Douglas County's former Nevada State Assemblyman. He served as co-speaker of the assembly in his second term and as minority leader for 10 Years. Hettrick was named outstanding freshman legislator in 1993 and received the distinguished Nevadan award from the Nevada System of Higher Education in 2008.

"I am honored that Governor Gibbons has appointed me to his staff and I am optimistic about the outlook for Nevada," Hettrick said, "I am anxious to put my public service experience to work assisting the Governor as he guides Nevada toward a brighter future."

Also appointed was Stacy Woodbury, who served four years as the executive director of the Nevada Commission on Ethics (2002-2006). Woodbury has also served as executive director of the State Dairy Commission and as deputy secretary of state under Dean Heller.
