The thunderstorm cell that passed through Carson Valley and Western Nevada caused squalls and a couple of single tree lightning fires, including one along Blue Lakes Road and another in Fish Springs at Brey Way and Out R Way. The Brey fire was reported at 5:48 p.m. Fish Springs received a hundredth inch of rain at about 6:40 p.m. A severe thunderstorm watch for central Douglas County expired at 8 p.m., but the National Weather Service reports that strong thunderstorms will remain in the area through the evening, which are capable of producing small hail. Lightning and brief heavy rain.
Power went out to Gardnerville at 5:48 p.m.
The National Weather Service radar is showing that northern Douglas County near the intersection of Highway 395 and Jacks Valley Road received .7 inches of rain. Places in Alpine County near Hope Valley received up to 2 inches of rain.
According to the radar the storm is moving off to the east with a strong cell moving toward Dayton.
