Two of the brightest young stars of the ukulele, Brittni Paiva and Victoria Vox, along with dozens of other players and uke enthusiasts from out of state, are traveling to Northern Nevada for two days of music and fun. The First Annual Tahoe Area Ukulele Festival is presented by 88 Cups Coffee in Minden, and Comma Coffee in Carson City. The Festival kicks off Saturday morning, June 27 with a day of live uke music, displays, vendors, sing-a-longs, lessons, and workshops in Minden Village. Multiple acts will perform free throughout the day and Hawaii's Brittni Paiva & Wisconsin's Victoria Vox will headline a multi-act concert Saturday evening. On Sunday morning, additional sing-a-longs and workshops will take place and the weekend concludes with a Sunday evening performance by Paiva at Comma Coffee in Carson City.

Saturday activities will take place in Minden Village, 1663 Lucerne Street beginning at 9 a.m. In addition to the workshops and concert, the day will include an exhibit area where instrument builders and music vendors will display their wares, plus ongoing free uke music on the "Open Uke" stage. The Sunday concert takes place at 7 p.m. at Comma Coffee, located on Carson Street at 4th.

Admission to the Exhibit and Vendor area is free, as is all of the daytime entertainment. Tickets for the 6 p.m. Saturday concert are $20 and the price of lessons and workshops vary by instructor. Tickets for Sunday's Comma Coffee show are $12 in advance or $15 at the door. For tickets or more information, visit www.playuke.net or call Doug Reynolds at (775)220-0995.
