World War II 82nd Airborne veteran James Snow, 83, of Carson City, died May 28, 2009 at Carson Tahoe Regional Healthcare.
Born Sept. 26, 1925 in Canada to George and Lillian (Varner) Snow, he served in the 82nd Airborne during the Normandy Invasion and Battle of the Bulge.
He received the Purple Heart for his service in World War II. He was in the civil service for 30 years at the mountain warfare camp.
Mr. Snow is survived by sons Jim Snow of Hemet, Calif., Mike Snow of St. Helen, Mich. and John Hawley of St. Helen, Mich.; daughters Catherine McMillan of Prescott, Ariz., and Ruth Ann Pitcher of St. Helen, Mich.; sister Joyce Wilks of Vancouver, British Columbia; stepchildren Jim and Ray Bingaman; 17 grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren. FitzHenry's Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for arrangements.
