Solar powered Laundromat in the Ranchos
The Bently Mini-Solar Laundromat is now open for business, right at the gateway to the Ranchos at 1167 Kimmerling Road.
Owner Don Bently said the water used in the washing machines is heated on site utilizing a double heating system. Solar panels provide the majority of heat, but on overcast days, the system has an electrical component that kicks in if necessary.
Hours for the Laundromat are from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. daily. Wash cycles cost from 75 cents for regular loads and up to $2 for the special Huebsch large capacity washer. Dryers cost 25 cents per 8 minutes. Laundry soap is available for 50 cents.
At this time, the facility only accepts quarters and there is no change machine on site, so please come prepared.
Stop by the new facility, which has been open for just over a week. Clean your clothes and save some energy, all at the same time.
