Main Street Gardnerville will soon be blooming with 51 flower baskets on the light poles and 35 flower pots on the sidewalks, thanks to the program's many sponsors.
With the help of the Town of Gardnerville, Main Street volunteers will be out Monday distributing the flowers. Main Street Gardnerville started this project with the hopes that the community and visitors will be able to admire the flowers all summer long.
Students from both Douglas High School and Smith Valley High School have been involved in the growing of these baskets as part of their floriculture classes. Volunteers with Plant It Nursery in Gardnerville have nurtured the many pots that will line the district corridor.
This year, students from both schools, and Main Street Gardnerville volunteers, will march in the Carson Valley Days parade giving the community a sneak peak of the blossoming flower baskets.
