Story time in Lampe Park

The Douglas County Public Library hosts story time for children 3 and older, 10 a.m. Wednesdays through Aug. 26 in Lampe Park. Stories, music, crafts.

Guitar Hero tournament

Celebrate the Teen Summer Reading program when the Dragonslayers Teen Advisory Board hosts the Guitar Hero Legends of Rock tournament, 3-5:30 p.m. June 26, at the Douglas County Public Library in Minden. Snacks, drinks and fun for age 12 and older.

Authors gathering

The Douglas County Public Library in Minden presents An Afternoon with Local Authors, 2-4 p.m. June 27. The free event will features area authors Elizabeth Leiknes, Megan Avila, William Hill and Charity Meadows, who will meet readers, sell their books and sign autographs.

Lego challenge

Use Lego materials to create an original work of art at the Summer Reading Lego Building Challenge at the Douglas County Public Libraries. Bring creations to the Minden or Zephyr Cove libraries between July 1 and July 18 and fill out an entry form.

Winners announced July 22 and will be displayed through July 31. Lego prizes awarded to first- and second-place winners in each age group category. Children and adults may participate. Children 2 to 3 years old must use Lego Duplo bricks.

The Lego Challenge is sponsored by the Friends of the Douglas County Library. The Tahoe branch is at 233 Warrior Way in Zephyr Cove.
