A 19-year-old woman reported a battery and attempted sexual assault early June 13 as she was walking in the area of Stodick Parkway and Muller Lane in Gardnerville.
Douglas County sheriff's deputies said the victim was walking east of the Crestmore Village Apartments at 3 a.m. when she heard a vehicle drive up behind her on Stodick Parkway.
The woman said when she turned to see who had driven up behind her, she was approached by three or four men in their early 20s and wearing baggy clothing.
The victim reported that she was roughly pushed to the ground by the suspects, and they began hitting and kicking her.
She said one of the suspects attempted to pull her pants down. The victim said she fought off the suspects, and when a vehicle drove down a nearby street, the men released her.
They ran back to their vehicle on Stodick Parkway, hopped inside, made a U-turn, and sped off toward Highway 395.
According to the sheriff's office, the woman reported the incident at 11:20 a.m.
The car is described by the victim as an older model, boxy, dark-colored sedan, possibly a Cadillac or similar vehicle.
