Douglas High senior Thomas Wicker shot a three-under par 69 at Washoe Golf Course on Thursday to win the NNJGA City Junior Championship by five strokes.
The win brought his NNJGA stroke average to 72.3, qualifying him to represent Nevada at the Boys Americas Cup Team Matches.
Wicker and Galena High senior Andrew Mims will join two players from Southern Nevada to make up the Nevada team.
Wicker's round included many ups and downs on the way to shooting 69. After bogeying the first hole, Wicker birdied holes 3,4 and 7 to shoot a two-under 34 on the front nine. He then missed putts from inside four feet on both holes 10 and 11, and bogeyed the par five 14th.
With his score back up to even par, Wicker made a charge on the last three holes, chipping in on holes 16 and 18 to finish birdie-par-eagle. The three-under par finish is Wicker's lowest round in competition since he shot 68 to win a high school league match at Wolf Run Golf Course in March.
