The Carson Valley Little League Renegades lost their district tournament opener 8-7 against Sparks Centennial Wednesday night at the South Valley Sports Complex in Reno.

Carson Valley jumped out to an early lead, scoring five runs in the first inning and two in the second before the Sparks pitching staff settled down to shut them out for the rest of the game.

Sparks chipped away at the lead through the remainder and scored three runs in the final inning to steal the win away. They had actually been down to their last strike of their last out when the Sparks batter came through with a walk-off base hit for the win.

Starter Hunter Simpson pitched a strong game on the mound for Carson Valley, using 65 pitches to get through the majority of the game.

Carson Valley faces Reno American Friday night at 5 p.m.
