The director of Douglas County's bus service said a rider who complained about the conversion of the service will get her first ride under the new system on Tuesday.

"There's no reason for us not to get her," Douglas County Senior Services and Transportation Manager Travis Lee said on Friday. "We were just trying to let her know she needed to call in advance."

Lee said this week was a transition for the Douglas Area Rural Transit bus service from its regularly scheduled routes to a dial-a-ride.

"Everyone will get picked up and not turned away," he said. "We've been pulling drivers off the routes down to TRE. The route wasn't very well used."

Lee said the bus has reduced the express route with stops at the Carson Valley Inn, the Carson Valley Swim Center, Johnson Lane, Target, Walmart, and Costco in Carson where it connects with Carson City's public transportation.

The bus previously made the run 10 times a day, but is now down to three.

"We want to be flexible with the dial-a-ride," he said. "There is no reason we can't get them scheduled and get them picked up."

A meeting is 4-6 p.m. March 9 to discuss the changes in the bus service. Comments are sought on the change through April 13.
