The storm dropped a half inch of rain on the west side of the Valley and .16 inches in Fish Springs overnight. On Sunday we had a 62 mph wind gust at 1:30 p.m. in Gardnerville. A big chunk of this storm is passing south of us. Deadman Summit north of Bridgeport reported 4 inches of heavy snow at 5 a.m. and still falling.
The higher snow level is keeping the roads clear for the most part. It will be slow going over Highway 88 where chains or four-wheel drive is being required from just outside of Woodfords all the way to Ham Station on the other side. Snow tires or chains are required north of Bridgeport, for obvious reasons and over Mount Rose summit. There's a high wind warning on Highway 395 through Washoe Valley.
The high wind warning has been cancelled, but we are under a wind advisory until 4 p.m. today as one storm passes and the next one rolls in. Expect 20-30 mph winds with gusts up to 60 mph through this afternoon. Today's weather will be windy with rain showers south of Carson. The snow level is at 6,500 to 7,000 feet with accumulations of 2 inches possible.
