The East Fork Fire & Paramedic Districts is having a big party to honor three of their retirees, including Bobby Wartgow, Dave Drew and Bob Barrett. They have 67 years of service between them, according to my quick addition. The date is March 21 at the St. Gall Pastoral Center. Reservations and the $25 fee are needed by Wednesday. Call 782-9040 for information.

A little bit of snow fell last night in Fish Springs, and it looks like the Sierra are getting another light blast this morning. The radar is showing some showers passing north of us, so it looks like the big snow is at an end for a while. The forecast calls for a 30 percent chance of snow showers before 10 a.m.

Chains or snow tires are required over Carson Pass and Echo Summit. Interstate 80 is allowing four-wheel drive vehicles over Donner Summit without chains. The only restrictions in Douglas are at the junction of highways 50 and 88. Otherwise the roads are clear.

Carson Valley rancher Andy Aldax, who suffered a stroke recently, was scheduled to undergo surgery on Thursday. Our best to he and Carol and we wish him a speedy recovery.
