Evelyn T. Waters

Gardnerville resident Evelyn T. Waters, 87, died Feb. 26, 2009, at Carson Valley Residential Care Center.

Born on July 9, 1921, in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., to Aubrey and Tressa (Clark) Shaw, she was a homemaker, an accomplished artist of both oil and tole painting. She was a quilter and gardener. Mrs. Shaw dedicated many years to 4-H youth programs of Saratoga County.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Waters; her parents; brother Ronald Shaw; son Philip Bergquist and granddaughter Pamela Bergquist.

She is survived by daughter Susanne Bergquist Laundry of Mashpee, Mass.; daughter Martha Bergquist O'Neill and husband Dennis and children Kathryn and Michael O'Neill of Gardnerville; siblings Bernard (Agnes) Shaw of Gansevoort, NY; Robert (Janet) Shaw, of Gansevoort, N.Y.; and Elizabeth Martin of Clearwater, Fla.; as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.

There will be a private family gathering to celebrate Mrs. Waters' life, at a future date.
