Soroptimist International of Carson Valley honored four young people from Douglas High School with student achiever awards for the first four months of the 2008-09 school year at a lunch at Two Guys from Italy on Feb. 17.

The following young people were recognized for their hard work, dedication and commitment to overcoming challenges: Eduardo Conchas, Brittany Coover, Natalie Dunleavy and David Gomez.

Student achievers are nominated by high school teachers, counselors or administrators, then chosen from a pool of nominees by the Soroptimist education committee.

The Soroptimist International of Carson Valley is businesswomen professionals in management and leadership roles in the community. The club has worked to further growth, development and success of women and children for the past 28 years.

The club produces the annual Savor the Flavor wine tasting event and buttons for Carson Valley Days to raise funds to for grants, scholarships and awards.
