The Douglas High swimming and diving teams got their season off to a strong start Saturday morning at the Carson Valley Swim Center, sweeping a pair of dual meets from North Valleys.
The Douglas boys picked up a 161-86 win over the Panthers while the girls won 160-105.
On the boys' side, the 200 medley relay team of Eric Vanbeuge, Colby Cain, Ryan Dykes and Kyle Jenkins won its race with a time of 1:54.72 while the team of Kevin Johnston, William Dirkson, Cameron Morefield and Michael Webster took third with a time of 2:13.81.
Chris Bergstrum, Tyler Cook, Morefield and Vanbeuge teamed up to take first in the 400 free relay with a time of 3:59.19.
Bergstrum, Kyle Jenkins, Dykes and Cain won the 200 free relay with a time of 1:40.25 while Dirkson, Johnston, Michael Webster and Cook took second at 1:56.96.
Cain won the 50 free (23.78) and the 500 free (6:21.07), Vanbeuge won the 100 backstroke (1:02.59) and took second in the 200 IM (2:20.31), Bergstrum won the 200 free (2:02.58) and took second in the 100 fly (1:02.09), Morefield won the 200 IM (2:15.85) and the 100 free (56.92) and Eddie Kollar won the diving competition with 277.40 points.
Jenkins was second in the 50 free and 100 free, Thomas Asher was second in the diving event, Dykes was third in both the 100 fly and the 100 breaststroke and Dirkson was third in the 100 free.
On the girls' side, Taylor Killion, Kali Evanson, Michelle Forman and Molly Lahlum teamed up to win the 200 medley relay (2:11.71) while Monica Spaggins, Megan Ryan, Yachen Jin and Brianna Smith took third in the event.
Killon, Jin, Ryan and Sarah Koontz won the 400 free relay (4:23.63).
Sierra Bertolone-Smith, Lahlum, Killion and Forman won the 200 free relay (1:57.34) and Annika Crowe, Maria Gutierrez, Sandy Lopez and Smith took third at 2:35.18.
Jin won the 50 free (28.84) and took second in the 200 IM, Killion won the 200 IM (2:25.62) and took third in the 100 breaststroke (1:22.71), Aleassa Anzelone won the diving competition (168.45), Forman won the 100 fly (1:05.28) and the 100 back (1:09.56) and Koontz won the 500 free (5:59.90).
Bertelone-Smith took second in the 50 free, followed by Koontz in third, Samantha Phillips was second in diving, Evanson was second in the 100 fly and Lahlum was second in the 100 back and third in the 100 free.
