Food closet receives generous donations

The month of February showed the community's generosity with donations for those in need of supplemental food assistance. Despite economic concerns of all, many found it in their hearts to help others with their contributions.

The following donations (pounds) were received: Coventry Cross Episcopal Church (45), Douglas County Public Library (97), Ruah Foundation (267), Petco (220), Sue Nelson (11), Doug and Cindy Petersen (1,961), Jessica Ledbetter (40), Michael Smith (85), St. Gall Catholic Church (467), Carson Valley United Methodist Church (149), Lynne Jackson (240), Wayne Colburn (120), Bill and Roxanne Hart (89), Christ Presbyterian Church (33), Pau Wau Lu Middle School (578), Soroptomists (80), Gene Clark (75), Coldwell Banker Itildo (55), and Nono's (53).

Regular grocery contributors: Raley's, Smith's, Scolari's, Gardnerville and Minden Starbuck's, Costco, Trader Joe's, Shell Country Store, Russel's Mercantile and Vanity Bakery.

At this time the food closet is in need of canned ravioli, chili, RiceARoni, Noodle-Roni, cereal, oatmeal and jam. On behalf of everyone at the Carson Valley Community Food Closet, thank you all for your generosity. You can drop off donations or volunteer your time to help at the food closet on Monday through Wednesday and Friday from 1-4 p.m. at 1255 Waterloo Lane in Gardnerville.
