Gov. Jim GIbbons is expected to attend a memorial service at 6:30 p.m. tonight at St. Gall Catholic Church in Gardnerville to honor Army Sgt. Sean Darrell Diamond, killed Feb. 15 in Iraq.
The service will be held on Diamond's 42nd birthday.
Diamond, of Dublin, Calif., is the son of Sally Wiley of Gardnerville who was one of the organizers of a Northern Nevada chapter of Blue Star Mothers.
The Patriot Riders are to form an honor guard along Centerville Road to the church preceding the ceremony.
The memorial will be followed by a reception at St. Gall Pastoral Center.
The National Guard will perform a military service, and present the flag to Wiley and her family.
In addition to his mother, Diamond is survived by his wife and four children, two brothers, and his father, Jerry Diamond.
He and his twin brother, Michael, were born March 17, 1967.
