A resolution by Douglas County Republican Central Committee at its regular meeting on Thursday, March 12.
Whereas, the national economy is in a serious state of economic crises, which is weighting heavily on tax revenue collected by all governmental units; and
Whereas, we believe Nevada Gov. Gibbons is setting a good example of applying Republican Party principles in dealing with the crisis and holding firm to his promise to enable the people to decide on any new taxes; and
Whereas, we are grateful to the governor for recognizing that the private sector is seriously suffering from the loss of jobs and reduced commercial activity caused by the economic downturn, and cannot afford additional taxation; and
Whereas, we believe it is important that Gov. Gibbons know that his efforts to balance reduced tax revenues and expenditures are supported; then
Be it resolved, that the Douglas County Republican Central Committee applauds Gov. Gibbons' efforts to resist tax increases and equitably reduce state government expenditures in balancing the budget, and offers its unequivocal support.
Upon unanimous vote of Douglas County Republican Central Committee, the chair is directed to forward copies of this resolution to Gov. Gibbons, to the leaders of both houses of Nevada Legislature, and to the chair of the Nevada Republican State Party.

The Adopt an Elder Project at Carson Valley Residential Care Center has been the charity of choice in honor of Peck Nagel's memorial tribute.
As the founder of the program and our residents who benefit from the funds, I wish to extend my gratitude to everyone who contributed. Your generousity and love for Peck Nagel will lend a helping hand to our low-income residents needing rent subsidies, personal items and additional services in order to live with the dignity they deserve.
