Updates on former Tiger standouts

Nick Cohee, fr., Utah: Cohee came from behind after a disappointing first run to grad fifth place in the 2009 NCAA Alpine Skiing Championships Giant Slalom.

He entered the event as the top-seeded skier but was well back from the leaders in the 20th after the first run. He turned around with a blistering second run to move up to fifth overall and second among Western collegiate competitors.

His finish earned him All-American status. His next stop is the U.S. National Alpine Ski Championships next month.

Shawn Estes, P, Los Angeles Dodgers (Minor League): Estes gave up two runs and six hits over three innings against the A's on Monday.


Jordan Hadlock, fr., C, Cal Poly: Red-shirting. The Mustangs took two games from California last week and beat San Jose State once to improve to 11-4 on the year.


Chris Honer, jr., P, Point Loma: Honer picked up his first win of the year Tuesday, tossing eight innings with five strikeouts, one walk, four earned runs and eight hits in a 6-5 win over San Marcos.


Phil Mannelly, soph., IF, Feather River: Feather River is currently the third-ranked team in Northern California. Mannelly went 1-for-3 with an RBI and two runs scored in a 14-2 win over Siskiyous. He went 1-for-2 with a double, two RBIs and a run scored in a 32-4 win over Siskiyous. He stole a pair of bases and went 3-for-4 with three runs scored and two RBIs in a 7-0 win to close out the series.


Cory Eilers, soph., DH, Feather River: Eilers scored two runs in a 32-4 win over Siskiyous.


Roman Davis, soph., C, Feather River: Davis went 3-for-5 with three runs scored, a stolen base and two RBIs in a 32-4 win over Siskiyous.


Niko Saladis, soph., RF, Feather River: Saladis went 2-for-5 with two runs scored in a 14-2 win over Siksiyous. He went 1-for-3 with four runs scored and an RBI in a 32-4 win over Siskiyous. He went 2-for-5 with a run scored to close out the series in a 7-0 win.


Ryan Laing, soph., 1B, Pratt College (Kansas): Pratt is 4-12 overall and 2-6 in conference play.


Chris Balcom-Miller, soph., P/IF, West Valley College: Balcom-Miller is 3-2 on the year with a 2.10 ERA and 38 strikeouts.

Brittany Puzey, sr., OF, Nevada: Nevada swept three games from Santa Clara over the weekend, 10-2, 12-0 and 15-7. Puzey is batting .356 on the year with nine doubles, two triples, five home runs and 26 RBIs. She has also been successful on all eight of her stolen base attempts.


Lauren Hoppe, fr., OF, College of Idaho: Red-shirting. The Coyotes swept a doubleheader from Northwest Nazarene 6-1, 3-1 on Tuesday.

Nicole Mehrer, fr., Nevada: No meet last week.


Ryan Bertucci, soph., Chico State: Bertucci took fourth in the high jump at the Aggie Open at U.C. Davis with a leap of 6 feet, 6 inches.


Skylar Young, fr., Chico State: Young took sixth in the 800 with a time of 2:22.34 at the Aggie Open at U.C. Davis Saturday.
