The purchase of 3.72 acres of county land off Heybourne Road for $37,332 by NVEnergy and three acres of utility easements for an electrical substation is on Douglas County commissioners' agenda today. Commissioners meet 1:30 p.m. today in the Tahoe Transportation Center in Stateline. Also on the agenda is a revision to the county code on who is qualified to request a rehearing and a discussion of the 5-year transportation plan.

It's nice out now, but it may not be for long. The National Weather Service is forecasting that a storm system developing in the Gulf of Alaska will be in our laps by early Sunday morning. Forecasters expect precipitation in the northern Sierra by Saturday morning and over the mountains by Sunday. They're expecting up to a foot in the higher elevations of the Sierra and 1-2 feet in Mono County by early Monday morning. We will not see nearly that amount down in the Valley.

But until Saturday night, it will be sunny and warm with highs climbing toward 70 degrees. Today will be partly sunny with the wind hitting 5 mph this afternoon. Friday will be mostly sunny with the breeze starting to pick up at 5-10 mph.
