Why Jesus? Why now?

The Bible tells us in Hebrews 13:8 that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. What a wonderful promise. What a comfort to know He never changes. Nor does He grow weary in His concern and love for us. We are similar in the fact that our basic human nature is the same as it has always been and will always be, unless something happens to change that nature. The Bible explains our basic human nature as self motivated, sinful, and separated from God. Romans 3:23, "For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God."

When we ask why Jesus? What could change our human nature? Only one thing can change us, a supernatural touch from the divine nature. The natural can only be changed by the supernatural. Only a new creation can change the old nature. 2 Corinthians 5:17, "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new."

2 Peter 1:1-4, "Simon Peter, a bondservant and apostle of Jesus Christ, to those who have obtained like precious faith with us by the righteousness of our God and Savior Jesus Christ: Grace and peace be multiplied to you in the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord, as His divine power has given to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of Him who called us by glory and virtue, by which have been given to us exceedingly great and precious promises, that through these you may be partakers of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust."

When we ask, why now? Our need for a savior has not changed and our savior is the same yesterday, today and forever. We will be celebrating the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead in a few days. It is a good time to reflect on the fact that Jesus lives and because He lives we can have eternal life. There is no such thing as a dead savior.

2 Corinthians 6:2, "For He says: In an acceptable time I have heard you, And in the day of salvation I have helped you. Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation."
