Adventure Camp

Douglas County Parks & Recreation Department offers Adventure Camp for kindergarten to sixth-grade students beginning today. Camp includes field trips to Carson Lane Bowling, arts and crafts, group games and a snack.

Camp is 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Jacks Valley and Meneley elementary schools. Cost for the day is $22. Spaces are limited and registration is required. Information, 782-9828.


Anniversary reception

Meet artisans of pottery, jewelry, glass and wearable art and celebrate the first anniversary of Felix Pottery & Artisans Shoppe, 4-7 p.m. today. Many of the artists will be at the anniversary reception to discuss their work. Light refreshments will be served. Parking available behind the gallery and across the street in the dirt lot next to Battle Born Wine.

Band bingo

The Bingo for Band fundraiser for the Pau-Wa-Lu Middle School band and choir is 6-8 p.m. today at the school, 701 Long Valley Road in the Gardnerville Ranchos.

Help the band and choir earn money to go to the Music in the Parks competition in Vallejo in May. Cash and prizes, 25 cents per game. Concessions for sale during the event. Children must be accompanied by an adult.


Cheese and crackers

Thriving Community presents a workshop on economical ways to make cheese, crackers and butter, 1-3 p.m. Saturday, at Sacred Spiral Studio, 1558 First St., Minden. No churn required. Children welcome. Blood drive

Western Nevada College nursing students and United Blood Services host a blood drive, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, at the East Fork Rancho/Rescue Station 7, 940 Mitch Drive in the Gardnerville Ranchos. Donors receive a T-shirt and chances to win raffle prizes of a laptop computer, gear bag, Sonicare toothbrush and haircuts. Baby-sitting provided. Information, 315-7287.


Smart hiking

The Carson Valley Trails Association hosts a free smart hiking workshop, 6 p.m. Monday, at Sierra Crest Academy, 1701 Lucerne St., Minden. Learn the benefits of using Nordic trekking poles while hiking. Bring hiking poles if you have them.

Young adult group

Johnson Lane Baptist Church hosts a young adult group, 7 p.m. Wednesdays, at the church, 1581 Johnson Lane in Minden.
